This is the moment a kidnapped Birmingham aid worker with a reported £3 million ransom on his head was freed from chains in Syria. Footage shows masked rescuers smashing through a door to find a man identified as Mohammed Shakiel Shabir, who has his feet and hands locked in manacles. He strugglesto stand up as his rescuers work to take off the chains that tie him to the bed and wall before embracing him.

The aid worker was believed to have been held captive in the countryside outside the town of Idlib, northern Syria.
A 4 million dollar ransom - around £3.1 million - was reportedly demanded by bandits, who may have links to Isis or the Assad regime, who held him prisoner.
Mr Shabir disappeared in November, having been based in opposition-held Idlib since 2014 with a charity group.
