Birmingham aid worker with £3M ransom rescued by militant group in Idlib, Syria

Unverified footage shows British aid worker Mohammed Shakiel Shabir being rescued

The aid worker was believed to have been held captive in the countryside outside the town of Idlib, northern Syria.

A 4 million dollar ransom - around £3.1 million - was reportedly demanded by bandits, who may have links to Isis or the Assad regime, who held him prisoner.

Mr Shabir disappeared in November, having been based in opposition-held Idlib since 2014 with a charity group.
