1.Who Was Prophet Zechariah?
Zechariah was a deeply pious priestly prophet who served in the Second Temple of Jerusalem.
Born around 90 BC, he spent his life guiding the Children of Israel back to the path of righteousness and was the loving guardian of the young virgin Mary, whom he raised inside the temple sanctuary. For decades, Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth were barren, but he never lost faith. In his old age, around 7 BC, an angel miraculously appeared to him while he was praying, announcing that God would grant him a son named John (the Baptist). Zechariah was temporarily struck unable to speak as a divine sign until the child was born. He spent his final years supporting the ministries of both his son and his nephew Jesus.
