Japheth was an influential patriarch, a family leader, and one of the three sons of Noah who survived the Great Flood.
Born around 2500 BC in Mesopotamia, he helped his father construct the massive Ark that preserved human and animal life from total destruction. After the floodwaters receded around 2448 BC, Japheth and his brothers received a divine blessing to multiply and repopulate the earth. Japheth migrated north and west into the vast regions encompassing Europe, Asia Minor, and parts of Central Asia. His seven sons became the founding ancestors of the Indo-European, Caucasian, and maritime peoples. While not traditionally classified as a law-giving prophet, Japheth was crucial in carrying Noah's early monotheistic teachings, historical memories, and moral laws into the newly formed post-flood nations. Japheth lived for hundreds of years and died around 2000 BC.
