Abdullah Hakim Quick (born 1949) is an imam, historian and travelling lecturer from North America. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the Islamic
University of Madinah in 1979. He was one of the first two students from the west and the first American to have done so and receive an Ijazah. Quick received a Master's Degree and PhD from the University of Toronto. His thesis was an analysis of the life and writings of Sheikh Uthman Dan Fodio, a great West African Scholar, warrior, and social activist.
According to the Book of Genesis, Hagar is an Egyptian slave, a hand-maiden of Sarah, whom Sarah gave to her own husband Abram (later renamed Abraham)
as a wife to bear him a child. Abraham's firstborn son through Hagar, Ishmael, became the progenitor of the Ishmaelites, generally taken to be the Arabs. Various commentators have connected her to the Hagrites (sons of Agar), perhaps claiming her as their eponymous ancestor. Hagar is alluded to, although not named, in the Quran, and Islam considers her Abraham's second wife.
The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. It is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must
be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence. In Islamic terminology, Hajj is a pilgrimage made to Kaaba, the "House of God", in the sacred city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The rites of Hajj are performed over 5 or 6 days. It is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to God (Allah).
Yes, Hagar was legally considered to be Abraham's first wife. (Note: Biblical texts in Genesis 16 describe her as a wife given by Sarah, while historically, she is often classified as a secondary wife or concubine.)
