Why did the detachment of soldiers fell down to the ground when Jesus identified himself by saying, "ego eimi?" The Scriptural facts show us that these soldiers were afraid to arrest Jesus because they thought he just might be God's Chosen One, His Christ, the King of Israel. In a first century Jewish mindset, you certainly would not do such a thing to your God's Anointed One, the King who God had chosen to rule over you since to do so would be to defy your own God who had anointed him.
