2nd Apocalypse of James

2nd Apocalypse of James
The Second Apocalypse of James is an apocalyptic text of the Nag Hammadi library. The text accounts of the trial and martyrdom of James the Just. It is believed to have been written around the 2nd century CE, and then buried and lost until it was re-discovered.

The gnostic text contains many Jewish-Christian themes, making many scholars think it to be one of the earlier texts, originally from the early or mid 2nd century.

In general, Scripture adheres to four principles: (1) Literal Meaning - What the Scripture says (2) Historical Setting - The story events; how the Scripture was understood in its time (3) Grammar - The surrounding sentence and paragraph; textual context (4) Synthesis - A comparison with similar Scripture to give a better contextual understanding
