The Hunger Games is a series of young adult dystopian novels written by American novelist Suzanne Collins.

The series is set in The Hunger Games universe. The film illustrates social conflicts in capitalism, influenced by theorist Karl Marx. According to Marxism, conflict leads to changing relations within the existing social structure, leading to a total social system transformation. Marxism views conflict through a means of social class; it was believed ongoing disputes between classes will eventually end capitalism and break down hierarchy to create more of a communist society.
