What is the role of Messiah in Judaism, Christianity and Islam?

According to the Abrahamic religions, a Messiah will come to the Earth in the end-times.

The Messiah will seek to achieve various objectives, including establish truth and justice, liberate people, and lead the world. The table below lists the Messiah's aims and objectives based on scripture text.

1 | Stop Suffering

Judaism

Before the Messiah comes, there will be war and suffering. He will bring the world back to God. Jesus was not the Jewish Messiah, as he did not eradicate war and suffering in the world.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
ISAIAH 2:4
And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
MICAH 4:3
And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
EZEKIEL 38:16

Christianity

Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah. He will return to Earth and all war and suffering will end, on his second coming.

Islam

Muslims believe Jesus will return near the end-times, and establishing justice in the world.
2 | Military Leader

Judaism

To stop war and suffering, the Messiah will be a great military leader, who will win wars and battles for Israel. He will provide military leadership and defeat those who oppose him.

For Jews, Jesus provided no military leadership and so was not their Messiah.

Christianity

Christian doctrine teaches that Jesus will wages war against the Anti-Christ in the end times.

Christianity teaches Jesus was the 'Prince of peace', a non-violent pacifist who taught to 'turn the other cheek'. Is Jesus the Messiah a great military leader who will defeat his enemies in physical and bloody warfare?

Islam

Jesus will return and fight the Anti-Christ (the 'Dajjal') in the end times.
3 | Peace & Security

Judaism

All nations will live peacefully together. There will be world peace, no oppression, suffering or disease. There will be no murder, robbery, competition or jealousy. There will be no sin.

For Jews, Jesus was not the Jewish Messiah as he did not establish peace in the world.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
ISAIAH 2:4
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
ISAIAH 11:6-9
The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
ZEPHANIAH 3:13

Christianity

Jesus is the Messiah for Christians as he will establish peace in the world when he returns

Islam

Jesus will clear all the confusion prevailing in the world regarding his life and mission. In particular, Jesus will correct the false teachings of Christianity. He will break the cross; Kill the swine/pig; and Abolish the jizyah (tax). There will be peace and security after.
4 | Religious Courts

Judaism

He will establish the 'Sanhedrin', the religious supreme court and legislature of the Jewish people, based on Jewish Law. This is a necessary for the re-building of the Third Temple.

He will restore the religious court system of Israel, establish Jewish law as the law of the land and the law of the Jubilee will be reinstated.
And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
ISAIAH 1:26-27
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

How will a Jewish Jesus address the major theological differences between Jews and Christians?

Islam

The Messiah will be a just judge. As a Muslim, Jesus the Messiah will preach a message of Monotheism which may favour orthodox Judaism.

How will the Messiah reconcile Islamic Law over his earlier observed Jewish traditions?
5 | Universal Knowledge

Judaism

The whole world will recognize the Jewish God as the only true God; the Jewish religion, Judaism as the only true religion and the Holy Land of Israel.

Jesus was not the Jewish Messiah as he did not spread knowledge of Judaism or Israel.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
ISAIAH 2:3
And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek and his rest shall be glorious.
ISAIAH 11:10
And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. HOSEA 3:4-5
And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
EZEKIEL 37:24
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
JEREMIAH 33:15
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
ISAIAH 11:2-5

The Jewish Messiah will establish a government in Israel. This will be the center of all world governments, both for Jews and gentiles
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
EZEKIEL 37:26-28

Christianity

Jesus is the Messiah for Christians as he will build the Third Temple when he returns. It is unclear if Christians will worship at the Temple.

Will the Al-Aqsa Mosque be destroyed by the Jewish Messiah?

What is Christianity?
Christianity is a global religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, who followers believe is the Son of God. It's a monotheistic faith, meaning Christians believe in one God who exists in three co-equal persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit

Christianity is based on the Bible, with the Old Testament and New Testament serving as sacred texts.

What is Judaism?
Judaism encompasses the religion, philosophy, culture and way of life of the Jewish people. Judaism is a monotheistic religion, with the Torah as its foundational text (part of the larger text known as the Tanakh or Hebrew Bible), and supplemental oral tradition represented by later texts such as

the Midrash and the Talmud. Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenantal relationship that God established with the Children of Israel.

Judaism includes a wide corpus of texts, practices, theological positions, and forms of organization. Within Judaism there are a variety of movements, most of which emerged from Rabbinic Judaism, which holds that God revealed his laws and commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai in the form of both the Written and Oral Torah.

The Jews are an ethnoreligious group and include those born Jewish and converts to Judaism. In 2012, the world Jewish population was estimated at about 14 million, or roughly 0.2% of the total world population. About 42% of all Jews reside in Israel and about 42% reside in the United States and Canada, with most of the remainder living in Europe.

Who is the Messiah?
In Abrahamic religions, the messiah or messias is a saviour or liberator of a group of people.
What is Islam?
One of the major religions of the world, Islam literally translates to "submission," as a follower of Islam (Muslims) devotes their life to that of their God. The religion began with the teachings of Muhammad in the 7th century. The theology of Islam is based on the Qur'an, which was given to

Muhammad by God. Some of the major fundamental principles of Islam include the Five Pillars, which hope to unite all Muslims into a community. Two different factions of Muslims exist - the majority are known as Sunni, with a small percentage known as Shi'a - both predominantly reside throughout the Middle East.
Muhammad died in 632 AD and the religion of Islam formally started after his death. The Quran was formally compiled and finalised in 650 AD, prior to which it was 'memorised' and written across many parchments.
