Q How is Apostle Paul connected to the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem?

A Though recognized as an apostle in Christianity rather than a prophet, Paul famously traveled from Jerusalem north toward Damascus to persecute early Christians before his conversion on the road to Damascus. The Damascus Gate gets its modern English name precisely because it marks the starting point of the ancient highway leading out of Jerusalem toward Damascus.

In Acts, Paul was traveling on the road from Jerusalem to Damascus on a mission to 'arrest them and bring them back to Jerusalem' when the resurrected Jesus appeared to him in a great light. He was struck blind, but after three days his sight was restored by Ananias of Damascus and Paul began to preach that Jesus of Nazareth is the Jewish Messiah and the Son of God.
