What is Angel?

Belief in the Angels is a fundamental part of Islam.

GABRIEL (JIBRIL) meaning "God is my strength". To deliver the Divine Revelations from God to His chosen Messengers from among the prophets

MICHAEL (MIKAIL) meaning "who is like God?". To manage man's mundane necessities, bring forth rain and oversee the cultivation of crops

RAPHAEL (ISRAFIL) meaning "God heals" or "the Burning One", angel of the trumpet that ends the world. Will blow the Trumpet: once, for the destruction of the universe; and again, for the Resurrection of all accountable beings to face Judgment Day

AZRAEL (ISRAIL) meaning "whom God helps" (the person helped by God). Angel of Death, the most fearsome of them all. The one Angel we will all meet at the point of our death; who does not delay nor expedite the hour of claiming the soul

MAALIK: Guardian of Hell-fire, an unwelcome sight, for the unfortunate and wretched dwellers of the eternal fire

RIDWAN: Guardian of Paradise, who welcomes the Prophets and the righteous who have been blessed by God

MUNKAR: To question the dead in the grave on issues relating to God, prophet, religion, belief, deeds etc.

NAKIR: To question the dead in the grave on issues relating to God, prophet, religion, belief, deeds etc.

RAQIB: Sits on our right shoulder to record our good deeds

ATID: Sits on our left shoulder to record our evil deeds and sins

Say, We believe in God and what was sent down to us, and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and what was given to Moses, Jesus and all the Prophets by their Lord
