Islam’s origins have captivated historians, scholars, and the faithful for centuries, but the traditional narratives have recently faced unprecedented

scholarly scrutiny. In this groundbreaking MythVision documentary, we journey deep into the hidden past of Islam, uncovering archaeological, textual, and epigraphic evidence that challenges long-held beliefs about how this world-shaping religion emerged.

Explore the rich tapestry of seventh-century Arabia, a vibrant crossroads of ideas where Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian, and Arabian monotheistic traditions intermingled, influencing each other profoundly. Delve into ancient inscriptions proving monotheism was widespread across Arabia centuries before Muhammad’s birth—suggesting Islam emerged not in isolation but from a dynamic and diverse religious landscape.

Discover striking parallels between Quranic passages and earlier Jewish, Christian, and Persian myths, revealing how the Quran interacted closely with pre-existing traditions, reshaping them into its unique theological vision. This includes remarkable insights from scholars such as Christoph Luxenberg, who propose fascinating Syriac-Christian influences embedded within Islam’s most sacred text.

This documentary also illuminates the often-overlooked story of Muhammad’s contemporary rivals—prophetic figures like Musaylima, Sajjah, Tulayha, and al-Aswad al-ʿAnsi, who challenged early Islamic hegemony. Learn how Islam's eventual dominance was achieved through a blend of theological innovation, strategic alliances, and military triumphs.

From controversial theories about Mecca's true historical significance to compelling archaeological discoveries like the Ṣanʿā’ palimpsest, this video will guide you through a complex, thought-provoking exploration that reveals the human creativity and cultural exchange at Islam's core.

Join us as we unpack the forbidden truths behind Islam’s origins—truths that reshape our understanding not just of Islam, but of the very nature of religious evolution itself.

What is Islam?
One of the major religions of the world, Islam literally translates to "submission," as a follower of Islam (Muslims) devotes their life to that of their God. The religion began with the teachings of Muhammad in the 7th century. The theology of Islam is based on the Qur'an, which was given to Muhammad by God. Some of the major fundamental principles of Islam include the Five Pillars, which hope to unite all Muslims into a community. Two different factions of Muslims exist - the majority are known as Sunni, with a small percentage known as Shi'a - both predominantly reside throughout the Middle East. Muhammad died in 632 AD and the religion of Islam formally started after his death. The Quran was formally compiled and finalised in 650 AD, prior to which it was 'memorised' and written across many parchments.
