In a previous video on this channel, I discussed whether or not we have historical evidence for the existence of Prophet Muhammad, the central figure of the religion of Islam. Turns out, we do have evidence for him. Now, in this series of videos, I wanna discuss what we know about the 'Historical Muhammad'. However, before we do it, we have to discuss what the traditional narrative tells us about the life of the Prophet of Islam. This narrative comes from the Seerah and the Hadith, which were compiled in the 8th century, some 100-200 years after the Prophet's death. So, let's get started.

Who are Al-Muqaddimah?Salam and welcome to Al-Muqaddimah. My name is Syawish and I'm the one-man team that runs Al Muqaddimah. History has always appealed to me more than most things and with time, I came to realize that a certain part, the real, detailed part, about people that called themselves Muslims, was barely available on youtube. It didn't take a lot of research to realize that even Muslims did not seem to know much of their history like how Islam reached the world, what happened to al-Andalus etc. Wanting to answer some of those questions, I decided to fill in the gaps with Al Muqaddimah.
What is a Prophet?In religion, a prophet is an individual who is regarded as being in contact with a divine being and is said to speak on that entity's behalf. They claim to be serving as an intermediary with humanity by delivering messages or teachings from the supernatural source to other people. The message that the prophet conveys is called a prophecy. In Islam, all prophetic messengers are prophets (such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad) though not all prophets are prophetic messengers. The primary distinction is that a prophet is required to demonstrate God's law through his actions, character, and behavior without necessarily calling people to follow him, while a prophetic messenger is required to pronounce God's law (i.e. revelation) and call his people to submit and follow him.
