Who is Mansur Ahmad?
A Speakers' Corner is an area where open-air public speaking, debate, and discussion are allowed. The original and most noted is in the north-east corner of Hyde Park in London, England. Speakers here may talk on any subject, as long as the police consider their speeches lawful, although this right
is not restricted to Speakers' Corner only. Contrary to popular belief, there is no immunity from the law, nor are any subjects proscribed, but in practice the police intervene only when they receive a complaint. Speakers' Corner is often held up to demonstrate freedom of speech, as anyone can turn up unannounced and talk on almost any subject, although always at the risk of being heckled by regulars. |
Who is Dan Gibson?
Daniel "Dan" Gibson (born 1956) is a self-published Canadian author studying the early history of Arabia and Islam. He visited the Arabian peninsula for the first time in his early twenties. After high school and some studies in theology Gibson spent his life researching the history of the Arabian
peninsula. Gibson investigated the history of the Arabian and Nabatean trade in the period from 300 BC to 500 AD. This led him to believe that there are contradictions between the archaeological record and the traditional historiography of Arabia respective of Islam. Gibson has developed the theory that Islam's prophet Muhammad did not live in Mecca but in Petra. |
Where is Mecca?
Mecca, or Makkah is a city in the Hejazi region of the Arabian Peninsula, and the plain of Tihamah in Saudi Arabia. It is also the capital and administrative headquarters of the Makkah Region. The city is located 70 km (43 mi) inland from Jeddah in a narrow valley at a height of 277 m (909 ft) above
sea level, and 340 kilometres (210 mi) south of Medina. Its resident population in 2012 was roughly 2 million, |
Where is Petra?
Petra originally known to its inhabitants as Raqmu, is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Petra lies on the slope of Jabal Al-Madbah in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of the Arabah valley that runs from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Petra is
believed to have been settled as early as 9,000 BC, and it was possibly established in the 4th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataean Kingdom. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who invested in Petra's proximity to the trade routes by establishing it as a major regional trading hub. |
