Who are Al-Jazeera?

Al Jazeera English (AJE) is an international state-funded 24-hour English-language news and current affairs TV channel. It is owned and operated by Al Jazeera Media Network, headquartered in Doha, Qatar.

What is Jerusalem?

Jerusalem is a city in the Middle East. It is located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Both Israel and the Palestinian Authority claim Jerusalem as their capital, as Israel maintains its primary governmental institutions there and the State of Palestine ultimately foresees it as its seat of power; however, neither claim is widely recognized internationally.

What is Church?

A church is a building used for Christian worship services and Christian activities. The earliest identified Christian church is a house church founded between 233 AD and 256 AD. The word church also describes a body or assembly of Christian believers, while "the Church" refers to the worldwide Christian religious community.

February 25, 2018: In a rare move, the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem has been indefinitely closed in protest against what church leaders say is "discriminatory" Israeli policy aimed at weakening Christian presence in the holy city.

Church leaders said Israel was violating the status quo at the site, which is one of the holiest in Christianity, at an "unprecedented level".
