Video Description (from Youtube)

In Jeremiah 31, God promises to establish a New Covenant with Israel. Christians claim the New Covenant prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-34 (30-33 in the Jewish Bible) is the New Testament and it makes

the Old Covenant or Torah obsolete. But if Christianity is wrong, as Judaism asserts, then what is the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31? Questions should be directed to RabbiSkobac@JewsForJudaism.ca.

Each year 1,000 Christian missionary groups, like One for Israel Maoz messianic Jews for Jesus Jewish Voice I found shalom spend $Millions targeting Jews worldwide, presenting themselves as Jewish to entice Jews to convert. They present Christianity in the guise of Judaism by calling their clergy "rabbis" and their churches "messianic synagogues," refer to Jesus Christ as Yeshua HaMashiach, ישוע המשיח or ישו הנוצרי and the New Testament as the Brit HaChadasha, הברית החדשה and their Christian religion as Messianic Judaism or יהדות משיחית.

Calling themselves Jews for Jesus, Hebrew Christians, Messianic Jews, Messianic Jewish Christians or יהודים משיחיים, they celebrate Jewish holidays with a Christian interpretation. They hold Shabbat services, wear Jewish skullcaps & prayer shawls to create the impression that a Jew can be a Christian and still maintain their Jewish identity. Using Torah Scrolls, Shabbat candle lighting, Hamotzei & Kiddush they make unaffiliated Jews feel comfortable & welcome in their churches.

Overview & Key Concepts

Who is Michael Skobac?

Michael Skobac was educated at Northwestern University and Yeshiva University. He has been involved in informal Jewish education and outreach work

since 1975. Skobac was the founding director of Kiruv, the campus outreach arm of the Rabbinical Council of America, and has worked as a campus professional with Hillel groups in Philadelphia, New York and Toronto.

What is New Testament?

The New Testament is the second part of the Christian biblical canon. The first part being the Old Testament, based on the Hebrew Bible. The New

Testament discusses the teachings and person of Jesus, as well as events in first-century Christianity. Christians regard both the Old and New Testaments together as sacred scripture. The New Testament (in whole or in part) has frequently accompanied the spread of Christianity around the world. It reflects and serves as a source for Christian theology and morality.

What is Covenant?

In religion, a covenant is a formal alliance or agreement made by God with a religious community or with humanity in general. It is central to the

Abrahamic religions and derived from the biblical covenants, notably the Abrahamic covenant. The Mosaic covenant refers to a biblical covenant between God and the biblical Israelites. The establishment and stipulations of the Mosaic covenant are recorded in the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, which are traditionally attributed to Mosaic authorship and collectively called the Torah, and this covenant is sometimes also referred to as the Law of Moses or Mosaic Law or the 613 Mitzvot.

What is Hebrew?

Hebrew is a Northwest Semitic language within the Afroasiatic language family. A regional dialect of the Canaanite languages, it was natively spoken

by the Israelites and remained in regular use as a first language until after 200 CE and as the liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. The language was revived as a spoken language in the 19th century, and is the only successful large-scale example of linguistic revival. It is the only Canaanite language still spoken today. It is also one of the only two Northwest Semitic languages with contemporary speakers, the other being Aramaic.

Nearly all of the Hebrew Bible is written in Biblical Hebrew, with much of its present form in the dialect that scholars believe flourished around the 6th century BCE, during the time of the Babylonian captivity.

Who is GOD?

In monotheism and henotheism, God is conceived as the Supreme Being and principal object of faith. The concept of God as described by theologians

commonly includes the attributes of omniscience (infinite knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere), omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence.

In theism, God is the creator and sustainer of the universe

In deism, God is the creator, but not the sustainer, of the universe

Monotheism is the belief in the existence of one God or in the oneness of God

In pantheism, God is the universe itself

In atheism, God is purported not to exist, while deemed unknown or unknowable within the context of agnosticism.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.What is the King James Version (KJV) of the New Testament?

The King James Version (KJV) of the New Testament was completed in 1611 by 8 members of the Church of England.

There were (and still are) no original texts to translate. The oldest manuscripts we have were written down hundreds of years after the last Apostle died. There are over 8000 of these old manuscripts, with no two alike.

The King James translators chose to use none of the texts. Instead, they edited previous translations to create the New Testament their king and parliament would approve.

So today, 21st century Christians believe the 'Word of God' is a book edited in the 17th century from 16th century translations of 8000 contradictory copies of 4th century scrolls that claim to copies of lost letters written in the 1st century by unknown authors.

2.Is the New Testament historically authentic?

Textual critics note that the original autographs of the New Testament books no longer exist, leaving thousands of handwritten Greek manuscripts that contain thousands of minor variants, mostly consisting of spelling or word order differences. Despite these historical copy changes, scholars emphasize that modern textual reconstruction methods allow historians to confidently identify the original 1st-century text, ensuring no essential historical narrative or Christian doctrine is left in doubt.

3.What is the oldest manuscript of the Bible New Testament?

It is of enormous importance in establishing the biblical text. There are three earliest manuscripts of the Bible New Testament:

1. Codex Alexandrinus is one of the earliest and most important manuscripts of the entire Bible in Greek

2. Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world and is kept in the British Library. Handwritten well over 1600 years ago, the manuscript contains the Christian Bible in Greek, including the oldest complete copy of the New Testament.

3. Codex Vaticanus in Rome

4.What language is the earliest New Testament in?

The earliest New Testament manuscripts are in Koine Greek. But there are Aramaic phrases in the Gospels. Therefore, Scholars believe an Aramaic layer lies beneath the written Greek of the New Testament, one which may never have been written down.

If true, the Greek text is itself a translation, and English text would be a translation of a translation, which raises textual inerrancy and corruption issue.

Since every translation is a personal judgement of which word to best use, made at the translators discretion.
