Bluink has extended its reach to another Canadian province. The company’s eID-Me smartphone app is now available in British Columbia, where it is compatible with the province’s BC Services Card, BC Driver’s License, and the combined BC Driver’s License and Services Card. At the moment, eID-Me can

only be used with the sticker-free versions of all three documents. However, Bluink is planning to update eID-Me to recognize cards with those address stickers.

British Columbia is the third province to receive the eID-Me treatment. The digital identity app debuted in Ontario in March, before making its way to Quebec in April. The platform is now compatible with nine different documents, including the Canadian passport and Ontario and Quebec driver’s licenses.

eID-Me creates a secure backup of an ID document that is stored locally on the user’s smartphone. The information is never stored in the cloud, and can only be shared with other parties with the explicit consent of the [...]
