Q What is the Adventist Church and how did it start?
A
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Protestant Christian denomination that officially organized in 1863 in Battle Creek, Michigan. It grew out of the "Millerite movement" of the 1840s, a widespread religious awakening led by William Miller, who eagerly anticipated the second coming of Jesus Christ. Following what is historically known as the "Great Disappointment" when Christ did not visibly return, a core group of believers re-examined biblical prophecy and established the Adventist church.
