Video Description (from Youtube)

This is the animated story of Samson and Delilah from the Book of Judges (Judges 16). Samson, the Nazirite judge of Israel, tore a lion apart with his bare hands, defeated a thousand Philistines with

the jawbone of a donkey, and carried the gates of Gaza up a mountain. No army could stop him. So the five lords of the Philistines sent silver instead, 1,100 pieces each, into the hands of a woman from the Valley of Sorek. Her name was Delilah.

In this video you'll discover:
• Who Delilah really was — and what the Bible never tells us about her
• The three times Samson lied about his strength, and why he stayed anyway
• The true meaning of Samson's Nazirite vow and his uncut hair
• The saddest verse in Scripture: 'He did not know that the LORD had departed from him' (Judges 16:20)
• What this story teaches about trust, betrayal, and emotional manipulation today

Who was Delilah?

Delilah is a woman mentioned in the sixteenth chapter of the Book of Judges in the Hebrew Bible. She is loved by Samson, a Nazirite who possesses great strength and serves as the third last Judge of Israel. Delilah is bribed by the lords of the Philistines to discover the source of his strength. After three failed attempts at doing so, she finally goads Samson into telling her that his vigor is derived from his hair. As he sleeps, Delilah calls a servant to cut Samson's hair, thereby enabling her to turn him over to the Philistines. More recently, her name has become associated with treacherous and voluptuous women.

Who was Samson?

Samson was the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites mentioned in the Book of Judges (chapters 13 to 16). He was one of the last leaders who "judged" the twelve tribes of Israel before the institution of the monarchy. He is sometimes regarded as an Israelite version of the popular Near Eastern folk hero archetype also embodied by the Sumerian Gilgamesh and Enkidu, as well as the Greek Heracles. Samson was given superhuman powers by God in the form of extreme strength.

The biblical account states that Samson was a Nazirite and that he was given immense strength to aid him against his enemies and allow him to perform superhuman feats, including slaying a lion with his bare hands and massacring a Philistine army with a donkey's jawbone. The cutting of Samson's long hair would violate his Nazirite vow and nullify his super strength ability.

What is Woman?

A woman is a female human being. The term woman is usually reserved for an adult, with the term girl being the usual term for a female child or adolescent. The term woman is also sometimes used to identify a female human, regardless of age, as in phrases such as "women's rights".
