[VIDEO] Muhammad's Night Journey (Isra-Miraj) may have been a Vision

Mufti Abu Layth carried out preliminary Arabic and Islamic Studies as a teenager in the UK in 1997. He went onto study Islam in Damascus, Syria. Abu Layth presents traditional Islam on a contemporary platform.

What is Isra-Miraj?

The Isra and Miraj are the two parts of a 'Night Journey' that Muslims believe Muhammad took during a single night around the year 621 CE. It has been described as both a physical and spiritual journey. A brief sketch of the story is in chapter Al-Isra of the Quran. In the Night Journey, Muhammad

travelled on the steed Buraq to "the farthest mosque". Traditionally, later Muslims identified the mosque as a location in the physical world, the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. At the mosque, Muhammad led other prophets in prayer. He then ascended to the heavens in the Miraj.

Say, We believe in God and what was sent down to us, and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and what was given to Moses, Jesus and all the Prophets by their Lord
