Video Description (from Youtube)

What's Up Heathens! Today we are looking at Brittany Valadez's video on whether or not you can prove Jesus existed in history using Tacitus. Spoiler: You can't, but she tries really hard.

So she starts off reading the entire passage and I give you the entire context surrounding the passage. The fact that it's not clear if it says Chrestus or Christus. How nobody mentions this passage until some Harry Potter villain in the 5th century. Other historians that were in Rome never mention Nero blaming the Christians. That's not suggesting the entire passage is inserted but more like it was interpolated at some point to say what it does now.

Even if you take Tacitus' passage at face value, then all it does is say that there were Christians in Rome when it burned. It also doesn't explain why Tacitus, a Roman, would reference Jesus with a title rather than his name. Christ or Christos was a title and Chrestus was an actual name.

She then painstakingly goes through the passage sentence by sentence showing how it proves Jesus but it only shows how she reads information into the passage rather than just reading the passage.
