1. Trinity Father, Son, Holy Spirit Trinity is the doctrine that God is one, but in three different Persons. Catholics believe the three distinct Persons form a unity in One God.

2. Redemption Jesus' Redemptive Death Jesus' Crucifixion was an inevitable mystery in God's divine plan of salvation. His Son, Jesus paid the 'ultimate price' for universal redemption, to free men from the slavery of sin.

3. Diety Jesus is both God and Man Jesus took on human nature without ceasing to be God. He is true God and true Man.

4. Salvation Salvation Salvation by grace through faith, not by works, is central to Christianity. This is the gift of God.

5. Salvation Anyone can attain Salvation Salvation is attained through baptism and supported by good works. A person can attain and lose salvation due to sins many times.

6. Sacrifice Sacrifice of Mass The Mass is the liturgical ritual in the Roman Catholic Church where bread and wine become the sacrificial body and blood of Jesus.

7. Order Ordination of Priests Ordination is where individuals are elevated from laity to clergy. They perform religious rites and ceremonies.

8. Order Eucharist and belief in Real Presence The words of Jesus at the Last Supper are pronounced at the altar: 'This is my body'; 'This is the chalice of my blood'. The bread-wine are transubstantiated into the body-blood of Jesus, who is both lead and victim of the sacrificial ritual. Real presence is the belief Jesus is actually present at the Eucharist, not merely symbolically or metaphorically pronounced.

9. Honour Loyalty to Pope as teacher of Faith Affirmation that every successor Roman Pontiff after Peter (i.e. Pope Benedict, John Paul, Francis etc.) have full ('Papal') authority, given by Jesus over all doctrine and discipline.

10. Honour Loyalty to Pope as Apostolic Primate Primate is a title or rank bestowed on some archbishops. It is either a Jurisdictional authority (title of authority), or Ceremonial precedence (title of honour).

11. Salvation Ability to lose Salvation Salvation can be lost through mortal sin. These are the major sins often preceeded by deliberate thought and intention.

12. Sin Sin (mortal and venial) Mortal sin destroys charity in the hearts by violation of God's law; it turns man away from God. Venial sin weakens charity and merits temporal punishment. If unchecked, venial sin can lead to Mortal sin.

13. Church Tradition Equality of Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition (Deposit of Faith) Holy tradition, refers to the foundation of the Church and Bible. These are the teachings of Jesus and his disciples preserved in the Bible, and transmitted down the generations.

14. Church Councils Recognition of all 21 Church Ecumenical Councils There were 21 Ecumenical Councils of the bishops of the Catholic Church. A council is recognized as ecumenical once their works are approved by the pope.

15. Bible Canon Bible contains 73 books In 367 AD, Bishop Athanasius wrote a list of 73 'divinely inspired' texts to include in the Christian Bible. The 73 texts were approved by Christian authority in 382, 393, 397, 405, 419 and 1546 AD.

16. Baptism Baptism is normatively necessary for salvation Baptism is required for salvation. This can be a water baptism, 'baptism of blood' (martyrdom for Christ) or a 'baptism of desire'.

Sacraments Seven sacraments of the Church Baptism Confirmation Eucharist Penance Anointing of the sick Marriage Holy orders The sacraments are celebratory, outward signs of the relationship Christians have with God. Teachings to help live His word; ceremonies to show devotion; to help us achieve salvation.
