What's Up Heathens! Today we are discussing 5 historical facts about the resurrection of Jesus with a couple of Christians that do not know how to do historical studies. Don't worry though because that's what I'm here to do, correct them.

First, these two guys start off by talking about how the entirety of Christianity resides on the resurrection of Jesus. This is actually a concept from Paul but Christ didn't have to die and resurrect for Christianity to have developed. Plenty of other religions have come and gone that had no truth to them either. Christianity is not special.

Then he proceeds to explain the gospels as independent accounts of Jesus which isn't true. Mark is the only real independent Gospel IF you don't consider the influences of Paul. Paul didn't write about an earthly ministry or any of the other things in the Gospel of Mark so that's why I'm fine with agreeing that Mark is an independent source. The other Gospels are not independent.

The first fact that he says all historians agree on is that Jesus died. I agree that most NT Scholars are fine with this but to characterize Mythicists as the crackpots that are the only ones that think he didn't die. Muslims also don't think he died. They think Jesus was a prophet and was born of a virgin and other stuff as well as assimilated into heaven. So, Mythicists are not the only ones that think this.

Another fact they claim is that Jesus received a burial. This only grounded in the gospels and there is no historical evidence to support this idea. His third fact of the empty tomb is only grounded in the Gospel which again is not based on historical facts.

Their other "facts" are still just based on the bible and this entire video boils down to an appeal to authority.
