Video Description (from Youtube)
“I cared for patients with new shrapnel injuries, new gunshot wounds every day.”
US reconstructive surgeon Dr. Irfan Galaria tells Mehdi how the bleak conditions in Gaza have continued under Donald
Trump’s ‘peace deal.’
Dr. Galaria also recounts stories from his time caring for children at the Al-Shifa hospital in November – his second trip to Gaza since October 7 – as Palestinians faced daily Israeli attacks, restricted aid, and no shelter.
It all amounts to, in Dr. Galaria’s words, a “systemic effort to target children” by Israel.

Palestine is a geographic region in Western Asia. It is usually considered to include the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Israel, and in some definitions
some parts of western Jordan. The name was used by ancient Greek writers, and it was later used for the Roman province Syria Palaestina, the Byzantine Palaestina Prima, and the Islamic provincial district of Jund Filastin. The region comprises most of the territory claimed for the biblical regions known as the Land of Israel, the Holy Land or Promised Land. Historically, it has been known as the southern portion of wider regional designations such as Canaan, Syria, ash-Sham, and the Levant. Situated at a strategic location between Egypt, Syria and Arabia, and the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity, the region has a long and tumultuous history as a crossroads for religion, culture, commerce, and politics.
A child or children, is a human being between the stages of birth and puberty, or between the developmental period of infancy and puberty. The term
may also refer to an unborn human being. In English-speaking countries, the legal definition of child generally refers to a minor, in this case as a person younger than the local age of majority, regardless of their physical, mental and sexual development as biological adults. Children generally have fewer rights and responsibilities than adults.
Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in the Middle East. Located on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern
shore of the Red Sea. It has land borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan on the east, the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the east and west, respectively, and Egypt to the southwest.
Suffering, or pain in a broad sense may be an experience of unpleasantness or aversion, possibly associated with the perception of harm or threat of
harm in an individual. Suffering is the basic element that makes up the negative valence of affective phenomena. The opposite of suffering is pleasure or happiness.
Suffering is often categorized as physical or mental. It may come in all degrees of intensity, from mild to intolerable. Factors of duration and frequency of occurrence usually compound those of intensity.
Zeteo is a media company and Substack newsletter founded by British American commentator Mehdi Hasan on April 15, 2024 after he quit MSNBC due to his
talk show's cancellation. Hasan said it costed $4 million to launch the outlet and that it reports from a left-wing perspective, covering news not reported by mainstream media outlets. Zeteo has been called an alternative media outlet that espouses progressive values. Various personalities such as Greta Thunberg and Naomi Klein wrote for Zeteo.
Zeteo publishes daily news and holds a weekly talk show, Mehdi Unfiltered, hosted by Hasan, and a weekly podcast. The outlet has a YouTube channel with 1.8 million subscribers and uploads four to five videos per week.
Led by two academics at Oxford University, the 1.9 million UK pound study found that human thought processes were 'rooted' to religious concepts.
The project involved 57 academics in 20 countries around the world, and spanned disciplines including anthropology, psychology, and philosophy.
The co-director of the project, Professor Roger Trigg, from the University of Oxford, said the research showed that religion was 'not just something for a peculiar few to do on Sundays instead of playing golf'.
'We have gathered a body of evidence that suggests that religion is a common fact of human nature across different societies. This suggests that attempts to suppress religion are likely to be short-lived as human thought seems to be rooted to religious concepts, such as the existence of supernatural agents or gods, and the possibility of an afterlife or pre-life.'
