Prophet Arphaxad  

Arphaxad was one of five sons of Shem, the son of Noah.


His brothers were Elam, Asshur, Lud and Aram. He is an ancestor of Abraham. Arphaxad was born two years after the flood, when Shem was 100.

Arphaxad in the Torah

Torah is the first 5 books* of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
1 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
2 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.
3 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
4 And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
5 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
