The Quran is the sacred scripture of Islam, which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel.
God assigned the Angel Gabriel with the task of conveying His divine messages directly to the selected prophets.
The Annunciation refers to the divine moment when the Archangel Gabriel (Jibril) appeared to Mary to announce that, despite being a virgin, she had been chosen by God to miraculously conceive and give birth to Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In 610 AD, at age 40, Muhammad was meditating in the Cave of Hira near Mecca when the Archangel Gabriel (Jibril) appeared to him with the first revelation from God. Over the next 23 years, these divine revelations were conveyed orally and recorded, forming the text of the Holy Quran.
Despite both Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth, being advanced in age and his wife being barren, Zechariah prayed earnestly for a righteous heir to continue his spiritual legacy. God answered his prayers through the Archangel Gabriel (Jibril), granting them a son named John (Yahya), a child whose name was divinely chosen before birth.
The Quran (also spelled Koran) is the holy book of Islam which Muslims believe to be the literal, verbatim word of God as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel over a 23-year period. Composed of 114 chapters (surahs), the Quran serves as the ultimate source of theology, law, morality, and daily guidance for over 2 billion Muslims worldwide.
