What is Gnosticism?
Developed in pre-Christian times, Gnosticism is

based on principle that stray from rational knowledge and instead deals with the experiential knowledge of God and the divine that lies within us. The name of the religion derives from the Greek word, "gnosis," meaning knowledge, more importantly believing in a "secret" knowledge of God, humanity, and the universe that others are unaware of. The beliefs of Gnosticism differ slightly from much of the beliefs that would eventually become Christianity.
