Video Description (from Youtube)
This Jewish Rabbi clears up a major misconception against Ishmael, the first born son of Prophet Abraham. Most Jews and Christians have negative perceptions about Ishmael, who is called the Father of the Northern Arabs (Muslims) and the ancestor of Prophet Muhammad. This negative perception is based on a false translation of Genesis 16:12. The Rabbi explains what the verse really means and clears Ishmael of the insults. Rabbi Reuven Firestone is a Professor of Medieval Jewish and Islamic Studies. His specialties are early Islam and its relationship with Jews and Judaism, scriptural interpretation of the Bible and Qur'an, and the phenomenon of holy war.
