Some believe Durupinar, a large aggregate structure in Mount Tendurek of eastern Turkey is the original Noah's Ark site. The image shows the Durupinar site, a large boat-shaped geological formation located in the Tendurek Mountains near the village of Uzengili, Dogubayazit District, Agri Province, eastern Turkey. Discovered in 1959 by Turkish army captain Ilhan Durupinar, the site gained international fame after amateur archaeologist Ron Wyatt and others promoted it as the petrified remains of Noah's Ark. It sits roughly 18 miles (29 km) south of the summit of Mount Ararat. Today, the area functions as a protected national park and features a small visitor center overlooking the formation.
