Coronavirus COVID-19 causes the highest UK death total in 2020 compared to previous years. True or False?

With all the Coronavirus media coverage, it would be expected for the death rate to be visibly higher in 2020 than previous years. The first Covid-19 virus cases appeared in the UK in January 2020.
