Timeline of development of the Trinitarian Creed

The Christian doctrine of the Trinity holds that God is one God, but three co-eternal consubstantial persons ('hypostases')

These are the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit - as one God in three Divine Persons. The three Persons are distinct, yet are one substance, essence or nature ('homoousios').

The Trinity doctrine is central to the Christian faith and is woven into Jesus' words:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit'
MATTHEW 28:19
The Timeline shows the development and 'fine-tuning' of the Christian Trinity, over 418 years following Jesus' crucifixion.
