The image depicts the interior of the Maqam of Prophet Yusha (Joshua), an exceptionally elongated tomb located near the city of As-Salt, Jordan.Revered in Islamictradition as Prophet Yusha bin Noon, the close companion, helper, and successor to Moses (Musa), the shrine is widely known for its extraordinarily long burial structure (sarkofaj), measuring several meters in length. This unique length is typical of many ancient shrines dedicated to early biblical figures and prophets in the Middle East, symbolizing their massive stature or great spiritual importance. The tomb sits within a vaulted stone room equipped with a small window for natural light and features an upright stone marker inscribed with Arabic script positioned at one end of the white concrete base. |
